  • Protected keys: Cloud/API keys remain in the main process and manipulated DOCX content is blocked.
  • Verified payloads: Shared and AI host payloads are checked for provenance and drift.

Compatibility

  • macOS: The direct version targets Apple Silicon.

Platforms & update

  • Published: Version 1.7.0 is Developer ID signed, notarized by Apple, and available through the integrated updater or priviot.com.

Hotfix

Account & Sync

  • Sessions end reliably: If a device is signed out or revoked in your account, Write now detects this reliably and signs out locally instead of getting stuck in a stale session.
  • Secured device approval: New devices are added to the account through an end-to-end encrypted approval mechanism.

Ribbon & usability

  • Commands keep their order: Related ribbon commands (e.g. Bold, Italic, Underline) now wrap like ordinary text at narrow window widths, instead of being scrambled into a confusing column order.
  • Consistent active toggles: Active formatting buttons now show the same violet outline without a fill everywhere, consistent with the rest of the app.

Settings reorganized

  • "Feature Settings" instead of "Profiles & Details": Local profiles and template options now live under "Feature Settings", sorted right after "Backup".
  • Scoped prompt: The prompt to insert saved sender details now only appears for the Business Letter template instead of every template.

Bug fixes

  • Selection no longer leaks into PDF export: A selected table cell used to appear visibly in the exported PDF.
  • Ribbon menus visible again: Color pickers, list galleries, and paragraph options had become invisible due to a rendering bug.
  • Deleting a profile works again: The confirmation dialog was rendered invisibly behind the settings page and couldn't be clicked.
  • Floating toolbar closes reliably: It used to stay visible when Settings was opened during a text selection, and showed a non-functional scrollbar.
  • Zoom display centered: The percentage between the zoom buttons is now correctly vertically aligned.

Interaction & appearance

  • File menu corrected: The file menu remains above toolbars and document surfaces while it is open.
  • Unified accent styling: The loading screen, controls and light appearance now apply the selected accent colour more consistently.

macOS distribution

  • Developer ID and notarization: The macOS download is signed with an Apple Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and includes the stapled notarization ticket.

  • German grammar checking: Proof now detects clear agreement errors, lowercase sentence starts, accidental repeated words, unambiguous punctuation spacing issues, and selected missing commas.
  • Expanded English grammar: Demonstratives, there is/are agreement, selected incorrect verb forms, and clear punctuation spacing issues are detected more reliably.
  • Context and clarity: Conservative suggestions can flag ambiguous pronouns, repeated sentence openings, passive chains, heavy nominalization, and overloaded sentence structures without rewriting the text automatically.
  • Still local: Spelling, grammar, plausibility, and clarity are checked directly on the device; document contents are not uploaded for proofing.

Quality and reliability

  • Measured language quality: Separate quality gates for German and English measure false positives, detection, and correction quality using self-authored sentence and document corpora.
  • Built for long documents: Mandatory performance tests cover documents up to 100 pages, very long paragraphs, rapid revisions, and protection against stale proofing results.

Priviot Proof on Windows

  • Current dictionaries included: The Windows build now includes German dictionary 0.3.0 and, for the first time, English dictionary 0.2.0.
  • Automatic dictionary updates: Write checks for signed updates at launch and then daily, downloads them securely, and activates them atomically on Windows just as it does on macOS.
  • Safe offline fallback: Without a network connection or when an update fails, Proof continues using the verified bundled dictionary.
  • New Store version: The updated Windows build is released as version 1.2.0 and can be delivered through Microsoft Store updates.

Documents & templates

  • Improved DOCX export: Screen and document formatting are now separated; export uses A4 and Arial and a clean, borderless DIN 5008 header block instead of a visible helper table.
  • Expanded DOCX import: Paper size, orientation, margins, and real Word page breaks are now carried over into the Priviot layout on import.
  • English templates fully translated: Business letter, personal letter, report, and meeting minutes now open fully in English when using the English interface.

Usability & localization

  • About 40 dialogs translated: Window titles, hints, and buttons in previously untranslated dialogs (including unsaved changes, comments, links, footnotes, watermarks, table tools, version history, error messages) now appear correctly in English.
  • Consistent product area: The logo and product name in the top left now get the same subtle purple hover highlight as Priviot PDF.
  • Table and document terms separated: Table "header row" and document "header" are no longer treated as the same feature in English.

  • Optional account connection: Core features remain available without an account; document contents are not transferred automatically.
