The engine, checking rules, dictionary, and local models are developed by Priviot. The dictionary remains editorially maintained; additional context models are built from Priviot-created and properly licensed language data. Provenance, data dates, and usage rights are documented transparently.
Independently developed
The checking architecture, candidate logic, rules, lexemes, word forms, and compounding rules are developed and controlled by Priviot.
Licensed context data
The local context model uses professionally produced German and English sentences from the European Commission’s DGT-TM and CC0 sentences from Tatoeba. The build blocks non-commercial, ShareAlike, and unclear sources.
Fully embedded locally
The data lives as a local file on your device and is looked up without any server request.
Continuously growing
New terms may enter a signed dictionary update after unambiguous source confirmation or explicit administrator approval.
How Priviot Proof works
Text checking, the aggregated context model, and your personal dictionary stay local. Document content, individual words, and the personal dictionary are not sent to Priviot for proofing. Signed dictionary updates are retrieved separately and contain no document content.
Language data and sources
DGT Translation Memory 2021, Vol_2020_1: source and owner of the original data: European Commission, Directorate-General for Translation. The source page was last updated on 15 March 2024. Priviot filtered the segments and transformed them into aggregated frequencies. Source and reuse conditions.
Tatoeba CC0: German and English exports dated 8 August 2026, used under CC0 1.0. Tatoeba downloads. Priviot does not embed an external checking engine and does not query these corpora while checking text.
