Encrypted user data
- enabled document content and document versions
- supported snippets, notes, and attachments
- content fields and file names inside the encrypted envelope where provided by the product
Priviot Sync is an optional online service for supported content in PDF, Write, Paste, and Notes. Local core features remain usable without an account.
Signing in alone does not upload local documents. In PDF and Write, every document must also be enabled for sync individually. Paste and Notes synchronize supported content only after the respective product area has been enabled.
Without enabled sync, documents, text, snippets, and notes remain on the device. Account data, organizations, and roles belong to the account service and are not presented as document sync.
Content is encrypted on the device before transfer. The sync service stores encrypted objects and the metadata required for operation, ordering, and conflict detection.
Deliberately enable a product area or individual document.
Encryption happens before transfer.
The service processes encrypted content and operational metadata.
An approved device decrypts and applies the state.
The scope is product-specific. Priviot does not automatically treat every local file as sync content.
| Application | Synchronized scope | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Priviot PDF | Selected PDF documents and their encrypted versions. | Only individually enabled documents. Concurrent edits are preserved as conflict copies. |
| Priviot Write | Selected documents in supported formats, including embedded content. | Only individually enabled documents. Documents are not merged field by field. |
| Priviot Paste | Text snippets and supported attachments. | Device- or operating-system-specific triggers can remain local and do not overwrite other devices. |
| Priviot Notes | Supported notes, tasks, reminders, projects, tags, areas, filters, and version states. | A reminder's local trigger state remains a device event and is not transferred as a completed alert. |
Client-side encryption protects content, but it does not make operating a sync service metadata-free.
Connected devices can be viewed and signed out in the Priviot account. Conflicts are not silently overwritten; applications preserve competing states or present them for a decision.
The exact key provisioning depends on the product and device state. Approved devices receive only the key material required for their encrypted use. Recovery options are explained in the application.
Sign-in, memberships, roles, and invitations are account features. They may be required for sharing or collaboration, but they do not automatically upload local documents.
Short answers about activation, accounts, and disabling sync.
No. The local core features of PDF, Write, Paste, and Notes work without enabled sync and without a mandatory account.
No. Signing in alone does not start document uploads. PDF and Write documents must also be enabled for sync individually.
Supported private content is encrypted client-side before transfer. Technical metadata remains visible for operation; its scope is listed above.
No. Sync aligns working states between devices and does not replace an independent backup of important files.
