Priviot Sync
Synchronization between your devices.
Priviot Sync is an optional online service for supported content in PDF, Write, Paste, and Notes. Local core features remain usable without an account.
Core principle
Sync is enabled explicitly.
Signing in alone does not upload local documents. In PDF and Write, every document must also be enabled for sync individually. Paste and Notes synchronize supported content only after the respective product area has been enabled.
Local use and sync are separate.
Without enabled sync, documents, text, snippets, and notes remain on the device. Account data, organizations, and roles belong to the account service and are not presented as document sync.
Process
From local content to a second device.
Content is encrypted on the device before transfer. The sync service stores encrypted objects and the metadata required for operation, ordering, and conflict detection.

Product scope
What each application synchronizes.
The scope is product-specific. Priviot does not automatically treat every local file as sync content.

Encryption
Content is protected. Operational metadata remains visible.
Client-side encryption protects content, but it does not make operating a sync service metadata-free.
Technically visible data
- account, device, product, and object identifiers
- object type, schema, revision, and deletion status
- timestamps, ciphertext size, hashes, and encrypted blob references
Important: Disabling a product area stops future synchronization. It is not automatically the same as deleting sync data already stored. Local files remain unaffected.
Control
Devices, conflicts, and recovery.
Connected devices can be viewed and signed out in the Priviot account. Conflicts are not silently overwritten; applications preserve competing states or present them for a decision.
Keys and devices
The exact key provisioning depends on the product and device state. Approved devices receive only the key material required for their encrypted use. Recovery options are explained in the application.
Account and organization
Sign-in, memberships, roles, and invitations are account features. They may be required for sharing or collaboration, but they do not automatically upload local documents.

Can Priviot read my synchronized content?

Is sync a backup?
No. Sync aligns working states between devices and does not replace an independent backup of important files.
