What's new in Priviot PDF?
All official changes, improvements, and bug fixes at a glance.
[1.0.0] – 20/07/2026
Official ReleaseOfficial launch
- Released together: Priviot PDF 1.0.0 launches together with Priviot Write and Priviot Paste as the first official product generation of the Priviot Suite in German and English.
- Clear distribution: macOS is provided as a DMG; Windows is installed and updated through the AppX package in the Microsoft Store.
- Matching feature set: The macOS and Windows editions are based on the same current application state.
Account & settings
- Compact account area: Sign-in, account status, and the latest synchronization time now share one card; after sign-in, Sign out replaces the sign-in form.
- Stored session: The session remains securely stored on the device, so synchronization does not require entering the password again every time the app starts.
- Consistent settings: Layout, labels, and appearance now match Priviot Write; the additional Free use card has been removed.
Editor & usability
- Clear text tools: Editing existing PDF content and adding new text remain clearly visible as separate tools.
- Consistent colour tools: Font and highlight colours use the same icons, colour indicators, and accessible selection states as Priviot Write.
- Cleaner home screen: Priviot PDF starts with existing PDF files; the New blank PDF action has been removed.
[0.1.5] – 15/07/2026
Public BetaAccount & optional Pro activation
- Optional sign-in: Priviot PDF can connect to an existing Priviot account while all free core features remain available without an account.
- Device-bound leases: Subscription and trial entitlements are server-signed, time-limited, and securely bound to the current device.
- Secure synchronization: Accent color, appearance, language, and reduced motion can be synchronized between the account and device with revision control.
Editor & recovery
- Empty new text fields: Newly inserted text fields no longer reuse the most recently entered text.
- Letterheads and watermarks: Letterhead lines, the DIN 5008 margin, and watermarks on newly added pages have been corrected; dialog values are preserved when reopened.
- Open drafts directly: Documents that have never been saved appear under Recent files and can be restored directly from there.
Usability & stability
- Mobile toolbar: The floating text toolbar can be closed or permanently disabled in Settings.
- Visible confirmations: Dialogs remain visible even while the Settings page is open.
- Update notice: After a version change, Priviot PDF displays a one-time notice with the new version and a link to the changelog.
[0.1.4] – 13/07/2026
Public BetaSelection & page management
- Edit together: Multiple texts, images, and drawings can be selected with a selection marquee or Cmd/Ctrl/Shift and moved together with the mouse.
- Manage pages: Larger HiDPI previews, zoom up to 300 percent, direct zoom entry, page jumping, marquee selection, and expanded context actions improve long documents.
- Open directly: Double-clicking a page preview closes the overview and immediately opens the selected page in the editor.
Interface & zoom
- Reliable default zoom: New and opened PDFs consistently use the selected preference; without a custom choice, documents start at 100 percent.
- Filename centered: The filename aligns with the visible PDF page and can be edited by double-clicking it.
- Consistent design: The title bar and status bar now match Priviot Write and work consistently in light and dark mode.
Licensing & planning
- Activate a subscription license: A license key for a Priviot subscription can be entered under account information and validated for the current device.
- Server-side validity: Expiration and revocation are checked securely with the server at wider intervals while temporary offline use remains possible.
- Clear product tiers: The free core feature set and future Pro and Business capabilities are now documented as binding product guidance.
[0.1.3] – 12/07/2026
Public BetaForms & stamps
- Direct text input: PDF text fields created in Priviot PDF can now be clicked, completed, and saved directly on the page.
- Image stamps: Custom stamps can optionally contain a PNG or JPG image and be inserted as a freely positionable image.
- Permanent deletion: Deleted default stamps no longer return, even after the stamp list has been cleared completely.
Alignment & usability
- Guides: Horizontal and vertical guides can be inserted from the ruler menu, moved freely, and rotated diagonally. Elements snap to them while being moved.
- Multiple selection: Text, images, and drawings can be selected together with Cmd/Ctrl or Shift, moved with the arrow keys, and deleted together.
- Input controls: The brightness selector, stamp dialog, and watermark workflow have been hardened against focus and input loss.
[0.1.2] – 12/07/2026
Public BetaNew
- Document ruler: The ruler has been rebuilt after Priviot Write: available under View, disabled by default, aligned with the PDF page, and equipped with a centimetre scale and indent markers.
- Document tools: New tools include batch compression without an open document, watermarks, bank transfer forms, multiple saved letterheads, and configurable stamps.
- Appearance: System-controlled, light, and dark themes are available together with a default zoom of 100 percent.
Text & usability
- Paragraph formatting: Text now supports alignment, multiline input, and first-line, left, and right indents through the document ruler.
- Toolbars: The mobile text toolbar reliably appears below the selection; the upper editing toolbar can be closed or permanently hidden.
- Confirmations: Saving and settings changes are confirmed with a short confirmation toast.
Bug fixes
- Object selection: Drawings, notes, and form fields can once again be selected reliably and edited through their properties.
- Accent colour: Hover, active, and selection surfaces now consistently follow the selected accent colour.
- Recent files: Individual entries can be removed directly from the recent-files list.
[0.1.1] – 11/07/2026
Public BetaBug fixes
- Quick access: Hand and Edit are now also available directly beside Undo and Redo while the existing toolbar buttons remain in place.
- Fill PDF forms: Existing interactive PDF forms can now be completed and saved directly, including text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and list fields.
- Free marker: Areas drawn with the free marker are now saved permanently and restored when the PDF is reopened.
- Image editing: Newly inserted images remain selected. Bring to Front and Send to Back now change the visible layer reliably without closing the active image editing controls.
- Update notice: The empty update panel remains hidden until an actual update is available.
Windows & distribution
- Windows interface: The native menu bar has been removed while important shortcuts remain available directly in Priviot PDF.
- Windows installer: The white standard installer now uses a branded Priviot sidebar without recoloring native dialogs or buttons.
- Microsoft Store: A separate Store-compatible AppX build, Store icons, and technical certification handoff have been prepared.
[0.1.0] – 10/07/2026
Public BetaNew
- German and English: The interface can be switched between German and English in Settings. On first launch, Priviot PDF uses the system language when supported.
- Automatic updates on Windows: New versions are detected at launch, downloaded automatically, and can be installed directly from Priviot PDF.
- Update notifications on macOS: New versions are detected and announced through an in-app download notice.
- Feedback integration: Feedback, bug reports, and feature requests can be submitted directly through the Priviot website.
- Release system: Consistent versioned installers, download aliases, blockmaps, and update metadata for Windows and macOS.
Improvements
- Cleaner Windows interface: The native “File / Edit / View / Help” menu bar has been removed completely. Windows now uses only the Priviot interface.
- Keyboard shortcuts retained: Ctrl+O, Ctrl+S, Ctrl+Shift+S, and Ctrl+W continue to work without the native Windows menu bar.
- Consistent Windows installer: The installer once again uses the native Windows design. The previous mix of black surfaces and white dialog elements has been removed.
- Website synchronized: The website, app version, download files, and auto-updater now all use version 0.1.0.
- Cleaned-up builds: Old installer graphics, intermediate build artifacts, unnecessary ZIP files, and outdated release files have been removed.
Bug fixes
- An empty auto-update panel was incorrectly displayed permanently in the bottom-right corner. It now remains hidden until an update is actually available.
- Cryptographic decryption of password-protected PDFs has been moved to the main process. Text, vector content, and document search are now preserved.
- Errors when evaluating PDF permissions have been fixed.
- Damaged or incomplete PDF annotations are handled more robustly.
- Unsafe access to missing PDF content streams has been guarded.
Available systems
- Windows: x64 installer with automatic update installation.
- macOS: Apple Silicon DMG for ARM64 with update notifications.
Known limitations
- The macOS version is not yet signed with an Apple Developer certificate or notarized. macOS may therefore initially block the app after it is downloaded from the website.
- Updates on macOS currently need to be downloaded manually and installed over the existing app.
- The macOS version is currently available only for Apple Silicon devices.
